Daniel Greenspan elected to the American Society for Matrix Biology Governing Council

Daniel S. Greenspan, PhD, professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Department of Pharmacology, has been elected to the governing council of the American Society for Matrix Biology.

The intellectual focus of the society concerns the structure and function of components of the extracellular matrix, interactions of these components with cells, consequences of these interactions on intracellular signaling and gene expression, processes utilizing these interactions during development, and the disruption of these processes in hereditary and acquired diseases of humans and other organisms. Matrix biology is highly relevant to allied disciplines that include tumor biology, orthopedics, rheumatology, dermatology, regenerative medicine and bioengineering.
